Serena Schreifels- Miss Brainerd  was crowned MISS  MINNESOTA 2017 on April 29th  at the Wellstone Center, in St. Paul,  where she met with other County/City titleholder's from across the state that have been recognized for their professional and community involvement.

Serena Schreifels hopes to use the title to reach a larger audience by traveling the state of Minnesota promoting her platform, " “Make it Okay” Mental Health Awareness” As a child, I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. A person’s mental health is just as important as their physical health and deserves the same quality of support. Mental illness is a disorder—NOT a decision.  As your Miss Minnesota, I will continue sharing my story; turning my struggle into my greatest achievement. Mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of and neither is talking about it. It’s time to change the conversation and end the stigma of mental illness. Serena  is full time student at Gustavus Adolphus College.  Her hobbies are Screenwriting, Choir, Nordic Skiing, History buff (especially a reading historical fiction) Lifting weights with my brother, Co-hosting the “Late Night Adolphus Show”
